HistoryThe Allensburg Church of Christ was started after a series of protracted meetings over a ten year period from 1929 to 1939. L. J. Tigner, F.H. Smith, and W.C. Burris were instrumental in leading those early meetings. The congregation started meeting full time on Sunday, February 5, 1939. They met in an old one room school house that has since become the center of the current sanctuary. John Warnock was hired as the first minister at a salary of $7.00 per Sunday. Several additions including a basement have been made over the years to enlarge the sanctuary and provide classroom space. The latest addition was a quarter million dollar fellowship, classroom and offices addition in 1999. In June 1948 Ed Bousman began a 21 year ministry with the church. He started his ministry with a ten day revival meeting in July of 1948 that resulted in five additions to the church. The following year Ed again preached a 10 day meeting and there were 14 decisions made. Pete Creamer ministered with the congregation from 1971 until1978. In 1983 Bob Stevens was hired as the minister and he is still serving the congregation. In June of 2007 Kyle Dickerson was hired as the youth minister.
